Artist Bari Ziperstein, however, put her off hours to use with a new ceramics collection. Originally conceived as a way to repurpose the cast-off clay from her large-scale sculptures, BZippy & Co. quickly blossomed into a full-fledged housewares line: quirky abstract coasters; modular, three-tone vases; and hand-painted plates depicting vintage thrift store lamps.

Also in the mix are statement-making necklaces fashioned out of adjustable suede strips and clay pendants. Ziperstein describes the organic designs — available in circles, beads, and breastplates — as “sculptural doodles” and, indeed, they’ve got an objet d’art quality that suggests they’d be as at home on your wall as in your jewelry box.

Looks like we’ve got a natural born kiln-er on our hands.
